I just purchased an A/V receiver and speakers to set up a home theater. I have a built in wall shelf where my audio components currently are located. Due to the physical limitations of the room, my TV must go on the other side of the room (about 25 ft away).
Are there any limitations on cable lengths for video and audio interconnects? If not, what is a good place to get long cables?

Yes, there are limitaions but 25' should not be any problem. The larger the guage wire the better. Quality cables with good shielding for your phono type and preferrably gold ends to reduce long term corrosion and reduced loss. Even cheap cables can go a long way without a noticable loss (even though it could be measured). I have gone 30' with cheap 18Ga lamp cord for speakers without much loss. But then again I was only running 50 watts.

I will probably go with composite video cables.

Just because your components have a place on a shelf doesn't mean they have to stay there. I made a tall component shelf with casters (for pulling out to access the back) and space for each of my components (with room for growth) and some media storage. I made it to match the details of my TV and it's stand, and they look very nice together. Having it near the TV lets me use high quality short (less expensive) A/V cables. Speaker wires are shorter to all but the rear, which I use wireless (RF) speakers for. Very neat.
I'll bet you can find something else to go on the shelves. Your components will be line-of-site for your remote control(s). If you're anywhere near Iowa I could make you a component rack.
