Hi,

I have no idea what is wrong here. Since you cannot change the command mode of your remote, which is set to AV2, and your receiver has been changed to AV2 (are you sure?), they should "talk" to each other.

This is the procedure for changing your receiver, which you should check again.

1. Press Setup
2. Press Menu < or > to select the parameter
3. Press Menu + or - to select the setting

If this doesn't work, you should post your problem here, where the receiver and receiver remote experts are.

You can press three buttons to reset the remote completely:

- AV I/O
- I/O
- MASTER VOL + or -

If you press and hold these three together, it resets the remote to factory defaults. I just used this to correct some issues with mine. BTW, this and other programming options for this remote are included in the manual (that's where I found the info).

Although my problem is related it concerns a different remote, so I hope I can get an answer within this thread.
I own an STR-DE585 with RM PP506.
It always worked fine, but I tried to change something and now it says 'unlock' when it is turned on and will not respond to anything. Not even the three steps that daddie0 mentioned.

Anyone? Please?

Go to the link in the second post. They know more about this remote than most of us do.

Thank you, thank you thank you! I have been researching this for hours. I was under the impression my str-k740p did not have AV1 or AV2. You hit the nail on the head. I have remote capabilities again!
Hurray!
Did I say thank you already?
Thank you.

Old stuff but BIG thank you anyway! I thought my old good Sony was broken! Amp is still (2018) just fine for my use as plain amplifier but annoying if remote is not working at all -> I was about to spend 250€ for new amp just to get working remote -> your instructions just saved me that sum of money. So, Thank you!
