Does anybody have this combination. I do and am having difficulty with the control connection from the TiVo to the A50. I would prefer to use the low speed data connection, but am forced into using the IR blaster because what looks like a firmware incompatibility. TiVo claims that their receiver will work with the A50 at firmware level 7.66 and above; with their help I was able to confirm that I was running firmware 7.61 (which they say is a pre-production version). They gave me a number to call at Sony to get the firmware upgraded. I called and described the problem. They seemed sympathetic, logged the problem, gave me an incident number, took my phone number, and said they'd be back to me in a week. That was a month and a half ago. I've called several times since to learn that there have been no new developments. It just irks me to have purchased what I consider to be a flagship product only to have the manufacturer not support it.

I hat to say it, but it could be because SONY has their own TIVO based PVR's and Satellite receivers with integrated TIVO coming out in a matter of months. Wait till CES in January for SONY to announce features and such.

Sony does have a newer firmware, with changes specific to Tivo timer operation. Call 1-800-222-7669 and find out how to send your unit in for firmware update or replacement.
