Hooked up the DTC-100 to a HD ready Elite PTV to it's 15 pin connector. Picture quality was good on HBO but not as good as I was expecting. The HD input also seemd to be shifted to one side about 1 to 2 inches. Any ideas out there?

I too have the problem with the picture shifting, or (hard to tell) the right side has a vertical blank spot about an inch wide.. Anyone else?

OK, called RCA today.. They guy I spoke to said he had never heard of the problem and said I should try using the controls in the TV to shift the image... Hmmmmm.. Will try tonight. He also said that in January or February RCA will be automatically downloading to the DTC100's a software upgrade/patch

One other thing.. Why is it that the guide, menus, etc. on the DTC100 when viewed on the TV are always the width of 4:3 and not full screen width? This is regardless of whether the image is stretched, true 16:9, etc., etc.

Hello-

I just purchased a Sharp 64LHP5000 HDTV and have connected to DirecTV via a Hughes HIRD-D45. I've also hooked up a terrestrial antenna for local digital broadcasts. My question is how do you know if you're getting HDTV via DirecTv? The only feed I have personally connected to the built in decoder is the antenna for local broadcasts. How do you get HD images out of DirecTV? Is anyone out there familiar enough with my model of TV to tell whether my DSS connection via the analog side of the HDTV is internally connected to the digital decoder? How does the IR mouse fit into this? Any input is greatly appreciated.

Kenny and Monty,

Press the info button and the down cursor key at the same time on the front of the receiver to enter the service menu. Scroll down to the last item "Raster Shift". Move the slider. Factory default is all of the way to the left.

My research indicates that there currently is not a conversion available for VGA or RGBHV to component video. Someone please correct me if I am wrong.

Also, for general information, my Diamond Pro 900u PC monitor worked great untill I worked out the RGBHV cable and switching issue.

One more thing. I've been told that the DTC-100 outputs 540p through the HD out.

Hi Ron! THANKS! I will try it tonight! Questions:

Re: "My research indicates that there currently is not a conversion available for VGA or RGBHV to component video. Someone please correct me if I am wrong."

What do you mean by this?

"One more thing. I've been told that the DTC-100 outputs 540p through the HD out"

Where did you hear this and what does it mean?

*sigh* While the info you gave is accurate the problem is it would only solve if the vertical blank spot was on the left.. Any other solutions?

I just got from CES in Vegas and spoke with RCA on their HD output. They said that RCA's accessory division has discussed making an adapter cable to component but NO promises. The way the FCC guildlines are set up for DTV & HDTV spec HD has tobe either 720P or greater. I do know that RCA's multimedia line or TV (which have the VGA 15 pin input) are 800 X 600 lines of resolution. No companies HD direcTV boxes I saw discussed the firewire connector, but that may have been added to the specs too late for the show. A colleague of mine who sells Sony TV's mentions that at the show he found a source for VGA to component for about $60 to $70, we'll see.
