Hey Kenny, which tv do you have?
I have a pioneer Elite pro700hd
It only accepts component video in for HDTV reception. the DTC 100 only has a VGA output for hdtv. Do you have a Proscan or RCA unit?

Do you know of a converter cable available?
Or do you think that the DSS manufacturers will make the boxes to work with compnent video.

My TV is a Mitsubishi 55805 (HDTV). The Mitsu only has the Mitsu properietary port (looks like a VGA port but wider and only 2 rows of pins). So... I had to search and search and then search some more. Finally found a VGA to BNC cable at Best Buy back in the computer area. Then had to go to 2 Radio Shacks to get the BNC to RCA adapters. Wish the VGA to BNC was higher quality but it works and the picture is terrific!

Do you have the RCA dish as well as the DTC 100
using the RCA jacks to the component video 3 slots?
or do you have another brand eliptical dish?

Yes, I got the RCA elliptical dish. Got it and the DTC 100 from Radio Shack by ordering, took 2 days to arrive and pick up at the store. Basically the VGA to BNC cable has the BNC to RCA jacks which are then connected to the HDTV RCA jacks on the Mitsu

Kenny, Thanks for the response. looks like there are very few up & running with DirectTv and HDTV. I'm about ready to take the plunge with a Pioneer Elite pro 700HD also. I hear that pioneer may have a "SHD-09" combo of HD converter, Direct TV receiver, and dish out early next year. I'll wait a few months to see. I'm still interested in folks actually using the setup to let us know the ins & outs. BlackJack

Glad to be of help! The only thing I might do now is get a new antenna for the local HD channels. Anyone here have any suggestions on a good one? Prefer one that can go in the attic, have plenty of room there and my current antenna is in the attic and works well but not great.

Tonight I am watching ABC Monday Night Football (ABC has quite a bit here in HD) Luckily we have pretty good HD stuff here in DFW (though admittedly much is upconverted but better than SD nonetheless) All the affiliates: ABC, NBC, CBS and Fox broadcast HD channels. On DSS there is HBO and an occassional Direct Ticket movie. Watched YES in concert a few days ago in HD too. While there is not much yet in true HD the upconverted stuff is much better clarity IMHO.

I have the DTC-100 and the eliptical dish ordered from The Star Club in LA ([Link: estarclub.com])
They had lots of them paid only 650.00 for the whole thing including shipping , fast service

As for the DTC-100 VGA output it's easy .. look in the yellow pages under cable suppliers there is bound to be a company that makes custom cable assemblies ( Custom Cable ind. --in Tampa) the can make an industry standard VGA to RGB+HV cable the standard calls for BNC connectors but since they are cusom building it for you have them put RCA connectors on it. They will be less problematic in the long run than the RS BNC to Phono plug converters. As any one who's been in the computer industry for years can tell you BNC's just get twitch after awhile for no apperent reason
(10-base2 enet)The HBO channel on 509 looks great
also with the DTC-100 you can just leave the HD monitor switch on and sho all your SAT stuff thru the VGA port thus bypassing the internal scan convertion part on your internal line doubler which usually suck. I have a mitsu 65905. AWESOME picture from my Toshiba DVD with progressive outputs. the s-video is ok but as I said most internal line doublers SUCK. dukehead..

I heard people are having problems using the new
hd dish with pioneer pro tv's.I don,t think it's
the tv,It's most likely the converter that they are using.(extron?)I overheard it from our rep.
he said that they were getting alot of calls about it.We haven't had any problems so far,but we have only put them on crt projectors.I think I remember hearing that the setup works fine as far as picture and what not' when you go back to an analog input it( the tv) won't sync back up and you have to turn the tv off and on again. If I hear any new news I'll post it.we may be trying to use it with the dvdo scanner.

Monday nite we hooked up the DTC-100 to a Zenith
900X front projecter. The picture on HBO channel 509 is stunning. Radio Shack makes a 10' VGA to 5 BNC(RGB + HV) that works fine in this application. Part number 950-0238@ $49.95. Went to CompUSA and got 2 monitor cables (male to male) and an inexpensive switch that accepts either VGA from the DVDO scan converter or the DTC-100. Eveything works. The aspect ratio thing drives me crazy. You have to deal with for times: The software itself (programing), source hardware (DVD Player), monitor( 900X), and the Stewart screen. The screen has masking that drops down to convert from 4:3 to either 1.85 or 2.35. When you finely get it right, it is very rewarding.
