Fox has reduced the size of the order to the upcoming Phil Lord & Chris Miller-produced time-travel comedy series Making History from 13 to nine. The decision was made as Fox is firming up scheduling plans. The network is in the process of locking in midseason premiere dates, announcing launch plans for midseason comedy The Mick and final season of Bones during the past two days. The order trim is said to be due to scheduling needs as Fox has several new series to accommodate.

The DC Comics-inspired drama will see its sophomore season go a full 22 episodes. The double-season renewal will allow the long-running animated comedy to break Gunsmoke's record of most episodes of a scripted series ever. Gunsmoke is currently tops with 635 episodes, but at the end of season 30, The Simpsons will have reached 669 episodes.

Technically, the current incarnation of the Steve Harvey show will end its five-season run in 2017, after which Harvey will then launch a new talker next September. The most significant changes are the show’s principal producer, to be IMG, and location, moving from Chicago to Los Angeles. Sources confirm that the new show will be owned principally by Harvey himself.[Link: tvnewscheck.com]

CBS Buys Single Mom Comedy CBS has put in development a single-camera comedy from feature writer-director Marc Lawrence (Music and Lyrics) and The Good Wife creators Robert and Michelle King. The untitled project revolves around an extremely non-confrontational single mom who’s promoted to Dean of Students at the high school where she teaches and must contend with overly involved parents, demanding administrators and a challenging student body — which includes her two teenagers. ___________________________________________________________________ CBS Orders More Episodes Of 'Man With A Plan', 'The Great Indoors' & 'Code Black'CBS has picked up six episodes each from new comedy series Man With a Plan and The Great Indoors, bringing their freshman seasons to 19 episodes. Additionally, the network has ordered three more episodes of Code Black, bringing its sophomore season to 16 episodes.
There is no decision yet on the third fall CBS series to premiere after Thursday Night Football, new Thursday drama Pure Genius, which has been stable but underperforming by CBS standards, most recently matching its Week 2 Live+same day rating in Week 3 (0.9 in 18-49). ________________________________________________________________ CBS To Air 2 Colourized Episodes of Dick Van Dyke in December The episodes “That’s My Boy??” and “Coast to Coast Big Mouth” will air back-to-back beginning at 8 PM on Sunday, December 11 on CBS.

End Of the Line For ‘No Tomorrow’ & ‘Frequency’ For the first time in the network’s 11-year history, no new fall series has received a full-season order after the CW opted not to pick up additional episodes of its freshman shows, dramedy No Tomorrow and drama Frequency.Neither No Tomorrow, based on a Brazilian format, nor Frequency, based on the 2000 movie, got traction despite a marketing push and strong lead-ins. Both shows drew a paltry 0.3 adults 18-49 Live+same day rating for their post-premiere airings. by Nellie Andreeva
