which antenna has better overall gain while maintaining maximum directivity ..could I swap out my cumbersome mini-state for the micron xg while maintaining similar results? keeping mind that both antennas would be confined to indoors.

Never had any luck and consistency with indoor antennae, they depend too much on reflections and bounce, people walking in the room can change reception.

Best to be outside the field of rf distortion and interference, even a window or balconey would be better.

My thoughts only!

I have my antenna in my window ..because of condo rules nothing may protrude from building or balcony I completely agree that outside is much better

If you're in the US, consider a satellite dish. Really.

On the one hand, you have to ask for permission. On the other hand, they can't refuse you. On yet another hand, they're allowed to charge you a monthly fee to have it in place.

If you're in Canada, it may be different.

And are there TV antennas small enough that one would not "protrude" from building or balcony? Or do they just refuse to have them visible?
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

tv antennas must be confined within condo unit ..nothing protruding outwards !will affect building aesthetics

Or do what I do, or would in that situation.
Concentrate on getting a good signal on the CBC and one local, for news,
then, as you already have an ISP, download everything else pm me for details, though it may take a few days to get back to you.

I recommend the CBC because the documentary shows like Marketplace
seldom have files to grab, unlike popular stuff ie Republic of Doyle.
