Hello everybody,

In case you're wondering what you can watch for FREE in the Toronto Area.

ALL with just an ordinary INDOOR antenna you can easily buy at any Best Buy, Future Shop, Walmart, etc., stores.

Basically:

Canadian Channels: 5-1, 9-1, 11-1, 19-1, 25-1, 35-1, 36-1, 40-1, 41-1, 47-1, 57-1

American Channels: 2-1, 2-2, 2-3, 4-1, 7-1, 17-1, 17-2, 23-1, 23-2, 29-1, 29-2, 49-1

So 23 channels in total, as of today Jan 25, 2014.

I live in Scarborough, pretty close to Lake Ontario AND have perfect (unobstructed) clear view of the southern sky.

IF you have any questions, feel free to ask.

thanks Chris, I replied to your other post asking several questions. I think you answered most of them here. Curious if you are in a house or highrise (if so what floor). Being close to the lake definitely does help. I am in North York and have troubles with some of the channels.

How are you getting the program info?

When TVGOS went away so did any channel info on my set.

Sorry, what's TVGOS?

In my particular case, the channel info is given by my TV set, LG FLATRON M2762, when using its own Remote Control.

TVGOS was the digital signal that gave TV's an on screen TV guide. It would also provide channel id and programming info.
Your TV doesn't just magically know whats on, and I was surprised to see the station and program info in your pictures.

I was under the impression this info was no longer transmitted. My TV hasn't shown details or had the clock be correct for many months now.

Sorry, I forgot that Internet connected TV's can still get some form of TVGOS service. Although I am not sure your little LG can go on line.

My 27" LG Flatron M2762 is TV set AND Desktop Monitor, the switch is done via the remote control.

The program/show info for each OTA channel works pretty smoothly, 24/7/365.

I'm not an expert to know if that's b/c of the TV model and/or the OTA channels themselves.

A little digging and I have found that the majority of newer TV's will pick up PSIP from each station that broadcasts it with their digital signal. So no TV guide, but at least station and program info. I guess is should re sync my tuner and see what happens.

It depends entirely on how high you are off the ground, and what the terrain is like.  For example mine is fairly low, and I get 5,9,19,25,40 (sometimes), 41-1, 41-2, 47-1, 57-1.  If the weather is just right I can add 23-1,23-2 to the list, but I have not seen those in the last month or so.

So you're getting mostly the Canadian channels only.

That sucks.

They make 8 bay antennas (basically double what you have) If you can you should try to get the antenna outside and up higher. This would be your best bet to attempt to get more channels.

Thanks for reply.Do I have to go multi-direction one?CN tower and grand island is about 20-40 degree different from where I live, but channel master doesn't have multi-direction 8-bay HD antenna.Digitalwave has it but the build quality is really bad.Any suggestion?
