For the ones who might also run into this problem , a "new" flat panel LG TV that only auto scan the cable side of the tuner, this will be a soution to bring it back to broadcast mode. There are certain LG models intended for comercial use , like Hotels, Corporate use, that are not sold to the public on the retailer stores but apparently can be found on second hand stores , that have been set up for cable tv only mode by the factory (the hotel installer sets only 1 TV up , then he clones the other hundreds of tv's in the hotel). All you have to do is enter the installer menu and change the 003 item Band/AFC from the factory default 000 (cable only) to 1 (broadcast antenna only). There is no combined antenna/cable mode on this models. To enter Installer menu use the TV remote and press menu repeatedly until the TV stops responding then Press 9876 then press enter. (password should be default 0000 so leave it) then in the menu Use the down arrow remote key to go from item 000 to item 003 Band/AFC then press 1 then press enter and you are set. All you have to do is re-auto scan again and it will scan the broadcast ATSC tuner mode only. By default it will not remap the channels to their PSIP info so CBS 4.1 will be like 39.3 but there is also an item on the installer menu that fixes that. google your tv manual (its hard to find since they are commercial only tvs) by LG TV commercial or lgsolutions or all LG Tech support and ask them to transfer to the commercial side of tech support (not the consumer side) and they will help you.
