I have two Sony and one Toshiba HD TV's all on aerial. The SONY's are fine and never noticed the PSIP issue. The Toshiba no longer recognizes 9-1 but does show it on 40-4. I've tried a complete reset and rescan but the issue remains.

CTV's PSIP seems to be on a rotating working-broken-working-broken schedule. Some weeks it's fine as 9-1, other weeks it's 40-4. You'd think this was an unknown science or something. :-)

Looks like the problem was fixed sometime yesterday, at the 6 o'clock news my receiver worked again with their signal.

Hope now that they have found and fixed the problem.

We will see, if it goes awry next week again or not.

Just yesterday, I tried CFTO and the sound was beautiful. This was the first time I could hear it for about 6 months.

My East York buddy and I both have LG TVs that did not work with the CFTO audio. IS LG part of the problem? My TV is about 6 years old and his is 3 years old.

What is the experience of others?

Hi all,

This is from CFTO after I let them know that my LG TV had sound again for CFTO. Here's what he said:

Thanks for the information. The person who posted the information indicating the missing PSIP tables was correct. Just last week we started to embed those tables back into the signal.

We were having problems with our system which is involved with embedding those tables, and just last week we were able to put it back in service.

I am surprised it had an effect on your audio and not the video. I have an LG receiver in my office and it was operating fine with both audio and video present.

I am happy to hear that your signal is fine. We are finding that not all receivers operate the same with these PSIP tables.

Regards and thanks again

Had the same problem a week ago Monday, HD receiver locked up, was fixed the next day by CFTO.

I'm glad that they responded to you, I never heard anything back when I pointed out their issues nicely.

Looks like the last three days the PSIP is screwed up again, my ATSC tuner rebooting and locked on channel.

Can only exit channel 9 with antenna removed and then tuned to another channel.

I guess they cannot get this small item fixed once and for all!!

As of Friday night June 24, 2011 problem fixed. Chn 9 PSIP working again.

In another thread here I've been discussing the PSIP issues CTV is having with incorrectly labeled audio feeds, an issue that's only getting weirder. (Their English descriptive audio track is now labeled "French".)

What I find funny is that writing to CTV gets a direct response from a broadcast engineer but follow-ups to the engineer seem to be met with silence.

Yandetv or others, I have an old LG and I don't know how to get rid of Described Video on my menu. C, CBC and Global now have it. Ideas?

On your menu?. Try selecting another Audio Language in the Audio menu. For instance if you select French it will play the French track so if Descriptive Audio is named French by the broadcaster then your TV will play the French audio first always. Every Tv has a MTS or SAP or Audio key that switches between available audio tracks. I have my Samsung set at English and it plays all audio fine on all channels in the GTA, if I want the descriptive audio I have to press the MTS key on the remote.
