Hi all,

I have the Comcast HD/DVR box, and corresponding silver 3 in 1 remote, and have somehow managed to erase the code that controls said cable box (the cable button only flashes red, and I get no response at the cable box). Does anyone know how to reprogram the cable button? The manual for the remote only states that its programmed from the factory and never addresses reprograming the cable button.

Thanks in advance,

Justin

edmund, first let me thank you very much for the quick reply. I tried the codes you recommended but unfortunately they did not work, the code that works is 01376 (Motorola code). My problem now is that I cannot seem to link the code to the CABLE button on the remote (it works fine under the AUX). Do I have to unlock the CABLE button to accept codes? or should I just fold, and return the remote to Comcast for a fresh one?

Thanks again,

Justin

Hello again, sorry for all of the posts but I found the answer in the "Which Remote Should I Buy?" forum:

"Try assigning device code 1376 to the CBL device key:
1. Press CBL key
2. Press and hold SETUP until CBL blinks twice
3. Type 1376

It should blink twice. If it blinks long once, it could be one of two problems. One could be that CBL device is locked. To unlock it:

1. Press CBL key
2. Press and hold SETUP unit CBL binks twice
3. Type 982

If it blinks four times, now it's unlocked and you can do the above step to set to it to 1376. If it blinks twice, that means it was unlocked and now is locked, and you need to do the step above again to unlock it again. It also means that 1376 code is not present for some reason (possibly it was completely reset).

You could use device code CBL/0476, which is built in, but it will not have the DVR commands and you would have to use advanced codes to program that in manually. I would just get a new one (that's has the correct code), but if you want to program them in instead of bothering to go back to the cable company, I can give you the list of codes for the missing commands and how to program them in. "

Turns out my CABLE button was locked,

Thanks Kupakai!!!

My comcast dvr remote "cable" button will not stop blinking. I've changed the batteries and it will not stop. Please help. I cannot program anything because I can't get 2 blinks. When I press ANY button on the remote, the cable button just continues to blink.

giggles,
you've made the classic first post error: you've dredged up an old thread, which a lot of people won't even look at, and you've introduced a different issue. Say there's a thousand people out here who know about that blinking light, but only one is interested in reprogramming the cable button.

You'll have to wait for that one person to look here, instead of the thousand, because you're not in a thread with the name you want. You've joined, so you can start a thread. Start a thread with a name that tells what the subject is (example: HELP is about the worst thread name you can use).
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Texha79, I registered here because your post was incredibly helpful to my desperate situation. I thank you very much.

My remote indeed needed to be unlocked with a three digit code (982),
I was expecting a five digit code, however the unlock code worked.

The correct code for the CABLE button was a five digit code (01376).
My equipment:
Comcast's dark platinum dark silver remote & Motorola dct700 cable box.

Thanks again.

There are two Silver remotes. THe one with the white/silver menu button requires four digit codes, the one with the red menu button requires 5 digit codes. It took several hours for me to figure why my red button would not "blink twice" with 4 digit codes. See links below. Hope this helps everyone not wast their time:

Red Menu button:
