Hello all! Glad to know there's someone out there that may be able to help!

We just switched from Dish Network to DirectTV. It was just installed last week.

We have the main receiver in the living room, and we have one TV in the kitchen and one in the bedroom...they are all on the same split cable...as this is the way we had it with Dish Network.

Our problem is...we used to be able to use add'l Dish remotes to operate the other TVs...with DirectTV, we have lost that capability...unless we buy a remote control extender. Ok...understand that.

The question is...can we program the IR Dish Network remotes to talk to our new DirectTV satellte? I know the TVs can work...but I don't know about the DirectTV codes or if I need to program the AUX button on the Dish Network remotes and if so...what is the code?

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

Sorry, that won't work. You're best bet is to get a URC MX-350 remote with an MRF-250 base to be able to control the sat box.

LOL! if you tried to program a dish network remote to work a Direc TV box it would probably self destruct!

some of the newer DTV Recievers have an option to set up the remote on RF. The standard boxes will probably never see that function. Look into the new DVR, model R-15. It doesn't come with the tiny antenna, but it will do it. The HD recievers also have this option, but they don't have the standard "channel 3/4 output" so you won't be able to feed the signal into the rest of the house. The DVR shouldn't be more than $100. You may be able to get a rebate on that as well. If that is too much of a jump, radio shack(and others), sell "remote extenders," "remote pyramids," and other similar toys. Don't wast your time with Dishnet remotes. You can buy the white DTV remotes at Walmart for about $20....
