If you're in a built-up area I'm sure your local cable company provides HDTV. You'll need a HDTV cable box from them and may have to subscribe to some sort of digital package.
Of course, you'll have to confirm all this by phoning them...

You just need to upgrade to digital service (extra cost, more channels) and then also upgrade to an HD box. Get the HDTV box with the dual tunner PVR. It is fantastic! You can RECORD two HD shows at the same time. Or record one and watch the other HD channel. You can transfer the records to an external DVD recorder via a SVideo jack. The HD pictures are amazing. More and more shows are broadcasting in HD.
The HD service/PVR is a very reasonable cost upgrade (like $10-15) once you have the Digital channel service.
