Hello all,

I am a new forum member and a new Directv customer, I am having problems with my directv remote as far as controlling the volume, mute and power on my Proscan 50" tv. I already replaced the batteries in the remote and even tried swapping satellite receivers from another room. Every time I program the directv remote to control my proscan tv (vol, mute, power on) it will work for a little while but then stop woorking.
This is driving me nuts and I can't figure out why this is happening. There are no problems at all with the other two TV's in my house with the directv remote functions.
I called directv tech support and they were no help at all, hoping someone here has expierenced this same problem and can offer some help.
I previously had cable tv and did not have this problem.

thanks Rick

Sounds like you have a bad remote. Dtv will replace this if you are less than 30 days subscribed. They will probably cover it if you are less than 90 days, if you are insistant with them. Be sure to tell them that the cable remote didn't do this as you stated above, that will get'm going. Good luck.

If they don't cooperate, Walmart sells the Dtv remotes for $20.
It takes 2 to tango, but only one to be nice!,

Thanks for your reply, but I did swap remotes with another room and the problem was not solved.

What type of remote do you have? White D series? If you tried two remotes with the same problem, then we need to change the way you are programming the remote. Is anyone else in the house trying to program the remote? Too many cooks can ruin the food.

Thanks for the reply, yes I believe its the white D series remote. I am the only person programming the remote, I followed the directions in the directv guide. I was thinking about getting a universal remote to control the TV and satellite box??

Is it that you're sliding it back to the SAT device and the TV commands aren't punched through? Try the following:

1. Select TV
2. press and hold MUTE & SELECT for two blinks
3. enter 9-9-3
4. press SELECT

Now the TV VOL commands are in all devices.

Yes, after programming it with the slider on the right "TV" it works, it even works when I slide it back to the SAT left side, but only for a little while then it will stop working again.

Try resetting the remote:

1. press and hold MUTE & SELECT for two blinks
3. enter 9-8-1

Now reenter the TV code. 10047
