Not sure where to turn too!? I have a Phillips FR-965 Digital surround receiver and have used the Phillips remote to control everything. Now, we changed from Dish network to DirectTV satelite and I can't seem to find any codes for the DirectTV Satelite box! I have the manual for the Phillips receiver but it doesn't list the codes for DirectTV. I did find a website for DirectTV that had some 5 digit codes for their remote control but my Phillips remote only excepts 4 codes and ignores any more than four. Does anyone out there happen to know any 4 digit codes for DirectTV? I have a DirectTV D10 receiver. Thank you.

You're out luck, the D10 is too new to be preset in any oem remote control. there's only 1 or 2 universal remotes with a code for the D10 receiver. I suggest you get a learning universal remote.

Any suggestions for a good learning remote? Something that can handle the new D10? Thanks for the repsonse! Actually, the remote that I'm has a search routine for codes but I couldn't get it to find the code for the D10!

For under $20 there's the one-for-all urc-8820, you can learn about 100 commands for the whole remote. If you don't want to learn all commands, you can get a upgradeable remote like the urc-8910, have SAT code 1377 loaded over the phone. The 8820 is upgradeable too, but it needs to be mailed in.

I am having trouble with my new DirecTV remote which came with my D10 box. I can't get it to control my Magnavox 20MF TV. I have tried all the codes that I got over the phone from DirecTV but nothing works. The other consideration I have is, being of an age that we forget, my wife and I would like to control all three of our systems with the same model remote and only learn one set of buttons which would have the same effect at all three stations. The following are what makes up the three systems.
1. Bedroom (DirecTV D10 box; Magnavox 20MF LCD Television; Panasonic PV-D4745S VCR, DVD player).
2. Den (DirecTV [Hughes GAEBOA]; Panasonic DMR-EH50 DVD Recorder; Panasonic CT-20SL15 Television).
2. Den 2 (DirecTV [Hughes GAEBO]; Pioneer DVR-810H Recorder; Panasonic CT27SC13G Television).
Do you think that 3 Sony RM-VL710 Remotes could control the 3 stations?
Thank you very much for your time and comets.
That's all folks

There won't be preset codes, but the vl710 should learn all commands with no problems. And if you can found the vl710's for sale, most places are out.

There are the new URC remotes, R5 & R7. they have a code for the D10 receiver, its SAT code 173. I have the R5, got it off of circuitcity.com for $42.
