Daniel: What Rogers package do you have? Just basic analog cable? Just wondering because I have Basic + Ultimate (analog) - so does that mean I would be able to pick up all those channels in digital with a QAM tuner simply by plugging it in and scanning for channels?

Thanks.

It doesn't really matter what package you have, as any digital box has to be specifically authorized for everything EXCEPT what I have listed on this unscrambled list. Even if you pay for other stations on a Rogers box, that means nothing for a off-the-shelf QAM tuner as all other channels are scrambled, and they need a Cable Card from the cable company to get authorization to unscramble them, and as mentioned Rogers doesn't provide Cable Cards.

Any QAM tuner without a Cable Card slot will never be able to receive anything but outright unscrambled channels.

I find it funny that on the analog stations that rogers promotes its digital and hdtv services, they say you can get a 3rd party box that has a cable card upgrade slot, or you can just buy a unit from us...

CPAC English is still missing. "New VI coming soon" has turned into a French Rogers promo. That's it...

Anyone have gettting Rogers VOD movies (GTA) in addition to the channels listed in the first post? Mostly on the weekends I guess weekends are when people rent the movies. Ive recently seen Taxi, Finding Neverland, Sin City, others I cant remember the names of...and a few "adult" movies. Check out the 88, 90 and 93 subchannels or do a scan on a Friday/Saturday night.

Like I mentioned in the first post, the 88, 90 and 93 channels contain active Rogers On Demand stations. The problem is there are hundreds of potential channels that "could" be active, so it's hit and miss as to what you'll see, where and when. And of course if the originator wants to fastforward or pause, you do too. :-)

Nothing's new. This kind of stuff doesn't change that often.

Confirmed - this works with an HD3000 QAM Tuner and Linux.

To those interested - use the debug mode on a Digital Tuner to get Frequency and MPEG Video/Audio PID's.

Debug Mode:
- Press and hold the "+" Button on your SA terminal
- When the mail light lites up release the "+" button, and press info.
- QAM Frequency and PID data is contained on pages 4/5

Daniel..first off ..Happy Thanksgiving...and i have a question regarding ATSC tuners..i just ordered a D-VHS with one built in..i was curious as to how OFA broadcasts would look..my question is ..will this be able to tune in my cable HD signal also..i currently have HD STB on 2 tvs to get these channels..in the 500 range..my other 3 sets are just connected directly to the cable and get only the SD channels..up to 125 i belive..im not talking about scrambled channels i think..because on one i have Showtime Hd and it doesnt come in on the other..cable co says i need two subscriptions to get it on both boxes..ive been considering the Sony unit you have..to get out from renting my HD boxes..is every cable co different..?..im on Service Electric here in Pa....and one way or the other i guess i need some sort of spliter to switch between OFA and cable correct?..Thanks for your time and i hope you and family have a safe holiday!..Rich G

for those in Burlington and Oakville, the same setup works with cogeco, I have a LG QAM box and get a similar amount of channels plus the on demand movies. Nothing in HD though just standard stuff.
