About 6 - 8 months ago I got the 20" Insignia model: IS-TV040920.... I've been at this for about 3 and a half hours with a phone call to insignia and I really must say their support is less then par.

But I'm tryin' to setup a comcast DVR 3 device universal remote. I've tried every suggestion thats been posted on this thread.. If anyone has any other suggestions I'll praise you as a deity. ;) --If it works.

Okay folks, I've found the answer to my own problem. I wanted to let you guys know one of the functional codes for the 20" insignia I have and so everyone else knows; That particular code is: 0171.

So I went a bought a Philips-Magnavox (PMDVR8) universal remote from Best Buy for about $28. It controls DVRs and learns codes, so I figured it would do the trick. Insignia was not listed, so I figured I would program the thing. It worked GREAT. I had to put the two remotes a bit closer than the instructions said, but I was able to teach the new remote all of the buttons from the original Insignia remote. It took about 15 minutes, because you do each button individually, but it was far faster and less frustrating than anything else I tried; and it works.

I would suggest this remote to anybody having problems, heck it is even free shipping from Best Buy right now (1/30/06). Here is a link:

Hello all:

I just bought an Insignia IS-TVHD30, it too was a display model sold without a remote. Best Buy replacement parts don't know anything about a remote for this TV, or in most cases, what the Insignia brand was! I couldn't find a remote to buy on the insignia-products web site. I didn't have any luck with the remotes prodvided by my cable company, nor with a GE 8 device universal I have.

I have researched this as much as I can, and know this particular TV is NOT made by Orion, or any other manufacturer menioned in this thread. It is made by XOCECO in China, but I couldn't find any relevant information on their web site, nor have I been able to contact them by email.

I have used all the codes for Mitsubishi, as someone suggested. At best, those codes get the tv to turn on/off. No other keys worked, exccept for the channel keys which did not switch channels, but instead, also turned the TV on/off.

I have Brighthouse (Time Warner) cable, and they tell me that (1) insignia is not on their manufacturer's list so they can't provide any codes to me and (2) they cannot install my high definition service without a remote for the TV.

Any thoughts?

Beth

DirectTV remote code for Insignia televisions:
Point your DirectTV remote at the tv and press the channel-up button repeatedly until the tv goes off (it might take 30 presses). When the tv goes off, press the POWER button and then SELECT. Now you're in business. Hit the SAT button and you should be able to change channels and volume. OK?

Here's how to encode your DirectTV remote to your INSIGNIA television: Turn the tv on. Point the DirectTV remote at the tv and continuously press CHANNEL UP until the set goes off. Then press the POWER button again, followed by SELECT. Now you're in business. By pressing the SAT button you should be able to change channels and volume with the DirectTV remote. To turn the tv off, press TV button, then POWER. OK?

Hi There,
After reading everything here and tried it all I can't get my DirecTV universal remote ( came with the d10-300 reciever ) to control my IS-TV040919 Insignia ( 20'' ) television.

I tried the codes 10463 , 00171 , 0171 , 10171 , 00186, 10186, 10150, 0100, 10100.
Also tried to scan for the code by:
Clicking Mute + Select, Then clicking 9-9-1-1, then repeatedly clicking Chanel Up on the directv remote ( I repeated that much more than 30 times ). And ... nothing.

Any ideas guys ?
Thanx so much,
Sagig

I have a RM-Y139 remote for direct tv, which uses 3 digit codes. All tv codes start with 1, so I just guessed till I got the code since there were only 100. It was 139 for this remote. The manual list the manufacturer Symphonic for this code. Hope this can help someone!

I just purchased an Insignia 24" TV model# IS-TV040922. I cannot get my DirecTv remote (R23) to work with it. I have tried most of the codes I have seen on this forum. Does anyone have any suggestions, or should I return the tv and buy a name brand model?
