1. Get an A/B switch (coax) Radio Shack has a remote control A/B.
or
2. Run cable into antenna IN on receiver (not dish IN).
On my dish receiver when turned off it passes what ever signal is on antenna IN.
hope this helps.

Most SAT receivers have a standard cableTV IN and OUT, in addition to their SAT cable IN. The SAT signal can be switched to go out the cableTV OUT on channel 3 or 4 to be viewed on your TV. It's the same strategy used with VCRs.
In my master bedroom, one cable carries both cableTV and SAT signals into the room. They are diplexed from the two sources in the attic and split out by another diplexer in the bedroom. I run the SAT signal ito the SAT receiver, and then the A/V outputs from the reciever into the A/V inputs (VIDEO1) on my TV. The CableTV signal goes straight into the TV. Switching my TV from TV to VIDEO mode lets me chose which to watch. I tune SAT stations on the SAT receiver, and cable stations on the TV. Of course if your TV doesn't have Video1 inputs then the first solution above is your best choice. Just remember that you won't be getting stereo or dolby digital sounds from the SAT receiver if you use the cableTV path to get it to your TV.
