I had the same problem with two first generation RCA sat. receivers. I wanted them in the same room, but keeping one receiver from responding to I/R commands intended for the other was a real hassle. I had one receiver in a tower to the left of my TV and the other in a tower to the right, but the remote signal would still grab both receivers. My Sat. installer had no advise. Ditto RCA. I then noticed that each I/R sensor on the receiver was round and was obviously a "fish eye" with a very wide agle field of vision. Solution: One small piece of black electricians tape over the inside one half of the sensor. Works like a charm. Never have had a double entry again. Just point the remote to the desired receiver and the other one is blind.
