Invisible? Not really, it's pretty visibile (using antennas with bright orange plastic parts tends do that).

Yes, I suspect that they're up-and-down right now, but the period of "up" wasn't too promising, although we shall see.

Antenna tower installers...

OK, I'm having trouble finding a recommended antenna tower installer in the Mississagua/Toronto West area. Does anyone here have any recommendations? If they sell antennas and accessories too, that would be a bonus!

Thanks in advance.
OTA HD setup: Harmony 659, Sony LCD GWII 60", Samsung SIR-TS160, CM 4228, CM 7775, CM 9521A

I'm in Markham but I used Andrews out in Uxbridge (http://www.andrewstv.com). I know they carry Channel Master and Wade products - they installed a 44 foot Wade self supporting tower and VHF antenna for me, along with dual UHF antennas I provided. Plus all the accessories - preamp, combiners, rotor, etc.

Also, about the HDTV page: if you guys have ANY updates
please let me know. All of what I report is based on my
personal experience and research on the FCC/CRTC websites.
I have NO engineering contacts at any of the stations
(can never find any email addresses), while I know that
some of you do... so if there's news, let me know and
I'll add it!

Daniel,

I'd remove the comment "Extremely infrequent HD" for channel 66-1 Sun TV since they seem to have suddenly begun broadcasting significantly more HD programming, reflected in this grid:

About engineering contacts, this is always a good source.

Finally, your "Location Map" has a few wrinkles in it -- the blue triangular marker without a descriptive bubble near Kitchener looks like it's positioned too far south. This SRC (French CBC) tower is near the northwest corner of Waterloo city limits, on Wilby Road -- not on Highway 7/8 as shown. And since your map is cropped to show Woodstock, you might as well add Citytv's rebroadcast transmitter tower just south of Ingersoll, at 464545 Rivers Rd., Sweaburg.

Is WNYO playing around with their PSIP? Right now I get 34-1, with no guide data. If I try 49-1, I get nothing. They're showing some foreign show not in English.

Not that I care, because the Bills are on in HD, so that's what I'm watching.

Bills- OTA- and DD 5.1

Anyone else notice on WIVB Ota and DD 5.1 the announcers diague is barely heard -you hear all the crowd noise very clearly but the announcers voice can not be heard. This is not the first time this has happened to me. Is the game on Fox like that too?

I dunno...I don't use 5.1 for sports. 2.0 is less annoying for casual game watching...football isn't movies to me.

WNYO is in the process of testing their new transmitter, that is what the foregin language programming is. They have not enabled any PSIP data for their new channel yet, its all still tests. No date when MYTV is to go live via digital.

The towers were plotted according to longitude/latitude information, not addresses... the one you mention is for CKCO. But there will be a map update when WNYO makes their official change. Thanks for your other comments!

Re-posting in appropriate (I hope) thread ...

Hi All.

I'm new to this, so please bear with me!

I just bought my first HDTV (Sony Bravia with ATSC Tuner).

We already have Rogers Digitial Cable service (with a Rogers Digital Terminal,
but that terminal is connected to another TV set).

We are in the Mississauga (Toronto), Ontario Area.

I understand that to receive HDTV, one option is to get a HDTV Terminal from Rogers.
Instead of renting the terminal, I can purchase one for $300.

I then have the option of signing up for various Rogers HDTV Channel packages,
or just receive the "freely" available HDTV channels and pay Rogers $5.99/month for service fees.

1. Does anyone know which HDTV stations I get for "free"?

Are all the channels listed in the "Toronto, Ontario & Buffalo, New York HDTV Channel Map" page available via Rogers Cable for free?

2. Also, is anyone aware of any Rogers HDTV promotions? Any recommendations?

Thanks,
Jason

This thread is actually for antenna-based reception, so your new thread is probably more appropriate for cable.

It's unfortunate that they don't seem to plan on showing any of their SunTv Movies in HD. I wonder what their reasons are.
