Although it appears that WUTV might now be directional to the south, which won't help us to the north much...

DOH !! - As one of fox's most popular characters might say.
Did I tell Global take a hike ? I didnt mean it !!

I guess time will tell, reception is coming in fine for me, but then I rarely have problems with WUTV, I was hoping the power increase will change "rarely" to "never"

- I've noticed some of their advertising is targetted to the North, I've seen 'the brick' and 'ford of Canada' advertising on Fox in the past, not sure if that would be the case during primetime hours though when (mostly) Global would cut over for the cable viewers.

OK, so they're not exactly shouting from the rooftops, but buried on CTVs website, there is a statement and a news article telling us their OTA facilities are up and running in Toronto and Vancouver.

..but we already know this !

the WNYO transmission tower, in Cowlesville, NY, is right in the middle of the
Ironwood Golf Course

Whereabouts in Cowlesville? I have a niece living there. If it is south of the town, then that is why I have never seen it

I'd say quite a bit south. The "center" of Cowlesville, according to Google Earth, is Clinton @ Lapp Rd. (Just past Clinton and Bullis.) Ironwood is located at 1964 Folsomdale Rd, and the official address for WNYO's tower is 2034 Folsomdale Rd. The address is still Cowlesville though. You would continue down Clinton until Folsomdale (actually it might be Schoellkopf to Kern to Folsomdale), and turn right, going down Folsomdale for quite awhile, almost until 20A. Here's a map if you're not familiar with the area.

About 5 miles, I'd say, from Cowlesville's "center."

may i suggest (32 years in the industry) that you relocate the transpondant reciever, this can be found on the rear panel of any sattelite receiver (next to the bios chipset). relocate this to the nearest capacitor to ensure thermal, magnetic interference is avoided when picking up a perfect picture.

regards.

Huh? This most definitely is NOT the area to post about satellite. What are you replying to?

Yes I would think you are right...a couple of weeks ago my normally rock solid Fox, has drops now and then. I am in oakville and get PBS,CBS,NBC etc...but now fox must not be sending much up this way...

Yup, turns out almost all of the signal is directed to the south.

Notice that WUTV has dropped 29-03 and that the PSIP for 29-02 has been corrected from WUVT to WUTV since last week. There has been no change in signal strength at my location since they have gone to full strength and might be broadcasting SOUTH. I am at Mitchell's Corners, Ontario which is just east of Oshawa, Ontario.

Thanks for your reply and advice. I downloaded the Got All Media software, and am pleased to report I now have perfect HDTV reception. The video and audio issues are gone. I uninstalled the ATI software afterwards and everything is working fine. Thanks again!

Wierd why they would do that, since many of the commercials are for canadian companies, the brick etc...of course besides the ads for lawyers :-)...WUTV if you read this....push just a little more to the north :-)

It's likely due to some potential signal conflict, though there's obviously nothing else in the area on 14 right now... I know WNYO (WB) has been having nothing but trouble with "future" conflicts that don't yet exist.

I was watching Prison Break on WUTV last night and the reception was fine until about half way through and then I couldn't get it anymore and had to switch over to Globals analog signal. Did anyone else experience this? Later in the evening I checked and it was fine again. I hope this isn't a sign of things to come with their new directional signal.

I would like to know roughly how much of their 1,000kw is heading north towards Toronto. Is it roughy the same as the omni 35kw signal? More? Less? Doesn't make me hold out for much when WNYO moves.
