Did any of the Rochester stations change channel allotments today?

Dunno, I once got NBC Roc a year ago but haven't locked on to it yet since then, though I've kept it in the channel list.

Hmm. I definitely don't get WNYO as good in their new location/channel as I did on Grand Island.

WNYB is rather strong now (I could only barely receive them when the weather was juuust right before).

The new WPXJ seems to work just fine. All four channels are SD, so no eye candy here. It's a bit confusing to have channel 51 on 23, and channel 23 on 32... is WNLO really going to stick with calling themselves 23? Nothing particularly wrong with rebranding to 32.

Well I found Ion this morning! I also am getting some Rochester stations (Fox and PBS) ... I'm in lower Stoney Creek by the lake!

After rescans, both my tuners still take 32 to 23 CW and nothing on 51. What is happening?

I found that I had to delete the channel's (49&23) so that the rescan would work in finding the new 49&51.

I had to move my antenna slightly to get 51, it is actually on channel 23 then gets remapped to 51. There are 4 channels involved 51-1,51-2,51-3,51-4. A great addition to the HD digital world.

That being said, now that there are all these sub channels I started looking for a website that lists all the programming. TV Guide is totally useless (both the US and Canadian sites). If you are on the Canadian site and enter your postal code it only list the channels for that city. I live in Stoney Creek so it only shows channel 11, 15 and 36. US site is almost as useless because it ignores most of the Canadian channels. They both ignore all of the sub channels. There is a site that I found that does list the sub channels. It is zap2it.com . If you go to customize and enter a US zip code, (14092 for Lewiston), You can add all the US HD channels and the sub channels (as of today there is only 1 channel for ION, but that may change in the next day or 2). There are Canadian channels there as well. Then change to a Postal code and add the channels not listed in the US. It even has descriptions.

I noticed my usual 75% ss has dropped to 53-69ss

Damn! lost Erie PA this afternoon and lost ION but the Dolby indicator keeps flashing and after such a strong signal overnight!
{hamiltonjim.....you jinxed me! ;-/ [wink\tougne-in-cheek]}
Just checked again.
Somethin's funky going on...at more that double the stated power of MyTV I should be getting ION and the indoor antenna trick doesn't seem to work, for as it picked up 49[34] at Grand Island, the indoor antennas aren't picking up from Wyoming county.
(as it does for WNED)

Well, they are lacking PSIP, that could be screwing the tuners.
CW has PSIP but when I was watching the Tugboat show [qubo] there was no PSIP data
ie. the TV listings with the carrier.

Great idea. I have used it for years but never thought of using a Buffalo zip code to pick up thesub channels.

Cheers.

I found this site a few months ago that will let you enter a Canadian postal code:
[Link: silicondust.com]

Hit the pull down country and select Canada, then enter your postal code. If a Silicon Dust user isn't in your postal code it will show the closest possible. Hope this helps..

On another note, I too was also suprised at the signal strength of channel 51, WPXJ. Also, I cannot pick up WNGS either and their Wikipedia entry states that they are broadcasting only a message which states "WNGS has ceased operations as of June 12, 2009." The same message is being broadcast over their channel slot on Time Warner Cable.

Well, it was sold, I guess WNGS will be back once the religious programming is in place?

They have to build their digital facility first. They will be on Ch-7 when they return. Funny because they are actually still broadcasting on satellite.

Has anyone else noticed a huge signal strength increase in WNYO. Its peaking my signal strength meter on my tv. When it was on Ch-34 I only got 2-3 bars and I'm in the Stouffville Area.

Opposite situation here. Much lower signal strength on WNYO. I've always had excellent reception of Grand Island; not so good further south.
