Thanks Arnold....I'll keep on trying as you suggested. I'm using the same method that you suggested, and hopefully one day I'll get it, but for now, I'll just keep hoping :)

Seriously, if I ever do pick up 9-1/40-1, I'll never do a "Replace" ever. I updated the firmware in hopes that it would maybe fix this issue, but no such luck :(

Did you upgrade your firmware? Not really sure what the advantage is, but it appears nil. I tihnk it fixes audio problems or something so I heard. You don't necessary have to have a UNIX system to flash it. I have XP, and it's really easy...just get a USB key and put the .BIN file on it and let it go. There are instructions in the readme.txt though...so be sure to follow it.

Greetings everyone!

I am happy to report I too have been monitoring the Global test pattern for several days now, it’s coming clear. “DJG”, I also noticed OMNI’S broadcasting a carrier, with no video component.

As this is my first post please let me give you a few details about my setup. I have been receiving OTA signal with CM4328 plus a rotor with great results for little over two and half years now. I am located in Mississauga Mavis and Dundas area near Huron Park they’re lots of trees and houses. The antenna is mounted to the chimney which is supplying two loads one a HD TV and HTPC HD Tuner via one splitter. Overall I have been very happy with this systems performance and would recommend this setup for anyone around my location.

As you may already know many people in the Mississauga and GTA have to point their antenna south to receive Buffalo signals and hope the antenna lobes will pickup CN tower signals. Which in my case I just rotate my antenna towards CN tower to pickup and the channels such as Sun, City TV etc.

I have recently I made a few modifications to my antenna setup. I added a second indoor antenna (Silver Sensor pointing towards CN tower) an another splitter via separate 70 feet of RG 6 cable. In addition to that I installed a 10db indoor amplifier on to the signal coming from CM4328 (pointed towards Buffalo) to compensate for second splitter attenuation. Please note this setup took a lot of experimenting to get the results that I wanted and this may not work for everyone.

It looks like I can almost retire my rotor :-) , but to tell you truth because of weather and trees etc. I still need the rotor to fine tune the channels that are sometimes harder to get 49-1.

One thing I really like about this setup is, I can run a quick scan my TV tuner and I can check if there are any new channels broadcasting with moving my antenna, it’s almost like having cable. My question is when will the OMNI channels start to broadcast again maybe a few years down the road LOL? Oh well I’m ready when they are :-)

Hope you fine this info useful.

Cheers!

I just realized i haven't yet posted my scan results yet, so here they are. This is on a Hisense 2020 USDTV receiver and a Terk HDTVi indoor antenna in Toronto, at Bloor and Islington on 32nd floor of my apartment facing south. I've commented on some of the channels that my receiver see's broadcasting, however due to bad PSIP data in the stream my particular receiver is unable to lock on and re-map to the virtual channel and thus these channels cannot be added to my channel list :-(

NBC 2-1 96%

Anyway, i'm pretty happy with the results but i am defiantely looking forward to the addition of OMNI 1 and 2 when they finally go live, i'm also crossing my fingers that CTV will fix it's PSIB info so that it is compatible with all receivers.

Re : CIII using 2.1 as their virtual channel.

I got a reply from CIII-TV (Global) today stating that they are looking into their PSIP problems. No other info.

CFTO - I finally got it! Maps to 9-1 as of this morning. Weird! I don't know if my email to them had something to do with it ;)

Wow really? Did you have to keep scanning for it to finally take.. or did you just get it on the first attempt? Also what time of day was it roughly?

I'll give it a try tonight and see what happen.. hopefully i get lucky too!

Confirmed! I was so SHOCKED it was riduclous.

I added it around 7:00a.m. or so at 85% signal.

I didn't do the scan...figuring that it would just get stuck at Channel 40, so I did my normal "ADD Channel" routine and entered "40" and let it scan that way. It picked up 9-1 in under 10 seconds, and then my jaw dropped. Now it's in my Hisense and I need not worry about it any longer, and I don't have to keep on trying :-)

I recommend that you try ASAP while the signal seems to be workable with our units. Probably just a corrupt PSIP, so grab it while you can.

Good luck and keep me posted.

Thanks for sharing.

I don't think I get that many as you. Are your channels on air all the time? I wished I knew when the networks are actually broadcasting...is there some HDTV air guide out there?

That's impresssive your channel list. I guess you have your antenna facing out the window. Any isues?

Besides the ones i commented on, i am receiving everything on that list at all times day and night, signal level fluctuates a tad depending on time of day and weather though. I actually have the antennna sitting right next to the TV and pointing directly at the living room wall, the signal must pass through the outside concrete apartment wall as well as my bedroom and living room dry wall before it reaches the antenna, despite this, receptions is still great, i did forget to mention in my original post that i'm using a radio shack signal amplifier that does make a noticeable increase when connected.

I think it has allot to do with the fact that i'm so high up on the 32nd floor with no other buildings in the way that i can get away with such an inneficient setup, i'm sure there would be more i could pick up if i actually had an antenna pointing out the window. This is still something i'm going to try, i've already built the DIY 4 bay antenna which is essentially a poor man's copy of the Channel Master 4221. I'm going to test it some time this week when i get some time, i'm sure there are a couple more that i can pull in with that setup, but maybe i'm just being greedy. Either way i'll post on any progress i've made, thanks a bunch for the update RFMan07!

Wow! And I thought your antenna is positioned clearly the southern skyline. That's awsome that you're able to get all these channels with your setup as described below. I"m amazed....

What model of the Radio Shack amplifier do you have? I should maybe invest in one too.

With your unobstructed view, most definitely it's a huge factor.

Let me know how the antenna project goes and whether you were able to get CFTO.

Cheers,

Hi Guys!

It’s great to see the “DaMeatMan” is receieving all those channels I am absolutely sure the height (32 second floor) and the clear view south, is major reason he get all the channels :-)

Many of us are looking forward to adding OMMI 1, OMNI2 and Global to the list of OTA channels to list. Unfortunately this could be short lived as the CRTC may give in to the GlobalCTV and allow them to stop transmitting OTA signals. If is happens then most likely all the Canadian stations will for suit :-(

I have been following this issue for quite awhile and it looks like CRTC is more like a puppet and unable to standup for Canadians. As many may already know Cable (Roger) and satellite (Bell) companies are battling it out with GlobeCTV for who will pay for theirs signals.

In the end I guess the little guy gets in the head again! Free Canadian OTA signals mostly likely will be lost. So enjoy the Globals test pattern it might be all we get from them, I guess it depends on when the CRTC finalizes ruling?

On the plus side we can still get the US stations I haven’t heard anything from FCC in the US, they have no such plans to shut down free OTA signals.

Sad :-(

This would really be sad :(

Tom from Albion NY here (70 miles ESE of the CN tower). Received the new channel 65 (41) last night for awhile on my lower roof antenna - the 15 ft higher 91xg is temporarily out of commission. When it goes back up, it will be minus the rotor, as I found I can get all Rochester and Buffalo stations (along with CBC 20) with just an attic bowtie antenna. I'm guessing Global is using about the same power as 66, at least for now.
