I just got a Pioneer PRO 610 HD
When I watch a Letter box Format movie it still crops the top and bottom like my old 4x3
I have checked each tv format setting
Is this normal? Is this because I dont have a DTV decoder?
thanks Ed

Ed,
It depends on the aspect ratio of the movie you are viewing. Your 16:9 TV has an aspect ratio of 1.78:1. So for any movie that you view with an aspect ratio of 1.78:1 or less you will have no letterboxing (black bars). If you view a 1.85:1 movie you will have very small black bars and if the aspect ratio is even greater (i.e. 2:35.1) the black bars will be larger still. If you are viewing a DVD be sure to set the player to output to a 16:9 TV.
Regards,
Bill Lucas
