I have a Mitsu HD and RCA DTC-100 and for some reason it has started showing a Vertical Blank Spot on the right that varies between about an inch and an inch and half. Anyone else having this error? If so how did you fix? As long as I use the HD output of the DTC-100 it does this intermittently. Sometimes when watching local HD and others when watching regular (local or DSS) channels.. I called RCA but they blamed it on the tv and said I needed to align the picture to the right BUT this does not seem right since if I change the RCA so its output is the S-Video it does not have this error. Weird!

i HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM WITH A RUNCO 933 PROJECTOR. WHEN I PUT ON THE HD MONITOR BUTTON THE PICTURE SHIFTS TO THE RIGHT. RUNCO TOLD ME THAT I HAD TO DO A NEW RATIO INPUT JUST FOR THE HD. I DID NOT KNOW THIS WAS HAPPENING ON THE SETS ALSO.

How did you fix it? I have tried every adjustment I can find. I do not think it is an issue of needing to adjust the image on the screen, via the TV itself, by moving the image to the left. The reason I say this is the right edge is:
A. Not always the same distance scooted to the left
B. It is not always exactly a straight verticle line.
C. Sometimes there is info there just not all of it..

ANYONE have a solution???

Kevin,

Feel fortunate you have a display device that allows correcting the problem. You might also try shifting the raster through the service munu on the DTC-100. Push the Info button and the down cursor key simultaniously to enter the service menu. I am experiencing the same problem with a Runco 863. That's what the memory locations are for.

It appears that the HD source material sizing is not standardized so untill then, it seems we will have to settle for a compromise; cropping of the larger images in favor of filling the screen.

This solution has worked for me and provides an appearantly perfect image for my customer.

Good Luck,
Ron

*sigh* Nope.. Since the default is set to the extreme left adjusting only moves it further left.. Even though (weird!) the slider moves to the right! Any other solutions?

I also have the same problem with the dtc100/
mitsubishi HDTV.I am using a monitor to pc
monstercable to connect the two.I am wandering if
it could be a problem with the cable. In the meantime I turn off the HDTV button on the front of the dtc100 and view non high def programs
with the rf cable.Any body else wish to shine some light on this problem before its to late for me to return this unit?

I have a new Vidikron Kronos and with the RCA dtc100 set to VGA, the image is shifted on to the right with a 3-4 inch strip down the left side of the screen. The technician has tried his best to correct this but has been unsuccessful. This really sucks. I will try the tip above and see if that works.

Has anyone noticed the vertical blank spot on "off air" HD broadcasts with the DTC-100?(I am not in range) The blank spot occurred for me on only some of the programming on ch199 and only some of the movies on HBOH. The point I'm getting at is that perhaps DirecTV is sending us the blank spot as the result of a non-standard mix of HD source material. It would be appreciciated if someone could verify the same phenomina on "off air" broadcasts as well.

Thanks,
Ron

We solved the problem on my system by entering the service menu, holding down the Info button and the down arrow, on the unit itself. Then scroll down to the bottom of the menus- keep going because it does not show on screen without scrolling- choose raster centering, and adjust the picture. Then I need to fine tune my projector. Worked for me

That only works if the blank spot is on the left since the default setting is such that you can only adjust the image to the left

Hi Y'all

Does anyone know the key sequence on the remote to enter the service mode on the new Mitsubishi T.V.s
I have the same problem with the dish on non 1080i
broadcasts, channel 199 is fine durring their promos for hdtv. The DTC-100 screws with the picture pretty bad and has a lousy line scaler. I got a IEV 1500 line doubler hooked up the composite port from the DTC100 to the IEV( used composite because the IEV has a great comb filter)
and then fed the RGBHV port on the Mitsu the Mitsu will not upconvert a 480p signal like it tries to do on all the other inputs (except the 480p component input) picture is much better, crisp and clear on all DSS/offair channels. For true 1080i
broadcast just have to press button on DTC100 and switch input on IEV1500, it has a pass thru mode and does'nt mess with anything above 480i

Thanks
Spocko

Thanks

I read somewhere (probably E-Town, DigitalTheater, or AVSForum) awhile back that the problem is something in the design of the RCA box. Supposedly part of the reason that RCA is the only one with a box available is that they didn't wait for the industry specs to be set in stone. They made a couple of engineering decisions and designed their decoder and TVs to match up. However, the final specs were slightly different and so their boxes will only work perfectly with their TVs.

The dtc-100 is not a good match for the Mitsu, I have the hd1080i 50" and i get the same line on the right side of the screen too. I praay for a fix, the RCA tech guys say it mitsu's problem. I dont think so. I think it is the old blue satelite card that caused it!

I did speak to RCA and was told that in February they would be downloading to the DTC-100's a software patch.. Hopefully it will fix...

we had this problem in the store i work in. it was releived by going into the dtc-100 configuration menu. it requires a special code. i'll provide it at a later time (i don't know it offhand but will get it in the next few days)
