i have DirecTV with 2 hughes receivers. the one setup downstairs is working fine, but the one in my bedroom is not locking onto any of the even numbered transponders. the channel banner come up for those stations, but then the bottom of the screen states "searching for satellite etc, blah, blah." why would only 1 receiver have that problem? HELLLPPP!!!

You are using a dual lnb sate arn't you. It will be required for it to work. You can not just split the cable with a spliter like you can with with normal cable. Hope this helps

scott -- yes it is a dual LNB. its just ive never had this problem until a few days ago, which is why i cant seem to figure out the source of the problem. could it possibly be one on the LNBs and not a receiver problem?

wayne -- i checked all of the cables and connections on my box outside and everything looks fine there. off hand the cables going to the LNB at the dish looked ok, but i didnt really get in there to check...ill try that next. thanks.

Another possibility to check here are the connections and cables. OIt is conceivable that a loose connection or bad cable could cause thsi. also if your line is surge suppressed try bypassing the surge suppressor to see if it is the culprit. This is not likely but easy enough to check

hi guys...if its not a simple cable or a connector problemthat u can detect, then i suggest as follows:dis-connect the rcvr that works good, and hook-it up in place of the bad rcvr , at the same spot....if that rcvr works ok, then the other rcvr is ng, if it dont work ok, u DEFINITELY have a cabling or connector problem feeding that location ONLY....good luck billy c

over the last day or 2 all the channels seem to be working fine again, even though some of the signals are as low as 79. go figure. but i will keep an eye on it to see if it is a recurring problem. thanks for all replies.
