Can different recv'rs be used with the same LNB & dish?

Can a digital recv'r be mated to an older LNB & dish?

Mike;

i'll let you know on wednesday? I've been told that mixing sat reciever manufacturers (with direct tv at least) is not a problem. I got a system over the holidays and have RCA and Sony boxes being hooked up to it on wednesday when the install happens.

If your talking stereo recievers / amps, i dont see why it wouldn't work. It should just be another input. I'll know that on wednesday as well.

Hi Mike,

In general if you are using the basic 18" dish, all receivers are basically compatible. However, you should consider utilizing the new 24" elliptical dish if your system hasn't been installed yet, it allows you to receive hdtv, and if you are in a lower tier market, will be required for local.

A note: with the new dtc100 from rca, most current dss receivers are not compatible with the included multiswitch which allows you to run 4 receivers. The only unit I've found that works with this switch currently is the hughes. All new models that are rolling out should be ok though.

Anyway, that's it for now>

Hi A/V Dr.

Argh!!!! Please dont say that! The multiplexor thing i mean. Are you saying its just the rca dtc100 unit, or all new rca units. My brand new setup that gets installed wed. has 2 rca units. I bought the multiplexor and a sony box to hook up my sister.

Maybe this is a dumb question but, is the dtc100 a reciever, a dish, or other?

fwiw, my rca units are drd4280re & drd222rd

thanks in advance.
