I bought a new RMT-17 (Westinghouse) and I was wondering how the firmware is loaded on the production line.
Is the chip set up before it is soldered to the board? Is there an ad hoc socket that fits over the chip when the board is complete? Is it set up using the keypad?
Mine came with a Samsung program (Samsung probably makes boards for Westinghouse.) so I'm wondering how that happened and whether I can change it to something else. I have an immediate need for a Westinghouse program, but these are compact and inexpensive so I might want to get more of them if I can program them for other TV's.
