Hello all,
I've looked at universal remotes for a long time, bought a few; they always seemed like a compromise. In particular, I really like hard buttons but the hard buttons never quite suit my needs; or they suit them for a short while, then I change something and the buttons become less useful.
It seems to me there is a marker, and technical possibility, to have a remote with hard buttons, where the buttons and/or labels can be replaced with different ones from a set of supplied options.
The classic case for this is source buttons, where there needs to be a large range to cover everyone's needs, but an individual probably doesn't have that many. So you would get a kit of (say) 20 source buttons, you unclip the front panel of the remote and load in the 5 that make sense for you.
Are there any remotes that have ever tried to do this?
Cheers Aaron

The concept rings a bell, but when and where I can't remember.
