[RESOLVED]

I have the Bose Cinemate Series 2 without the Bose remote. So far I've bought two cheap universal remotes (RCA and One For All) and I've gotten both to power on and off the unit, however the volume control will not work. I could order a Bose replacement remote online or buy a more expensive Harmony remote, both would work, but I'm looking for a cheap and quick solution :)

Any ideas? I just find it odd that the remotes can be programmed to power on and off the unit but they don't work for simple volume control. All I need is to power on/off and to control volume.

I took the RCA remote back and I currently have the One For All OARC05G programmed with 31933.

Possibly helpful information: when I hit the volume buttons on the One For All remote there is no response from the indicator light on the Bose unit. However, when I press 2,4,5,6 or 7, the indicator light on the Bose unit flashes as if it is recognizing the signal, but nothing else happens.

Also, and I'm thinking this may be the issue, the Bose codes are only listed under "DVD" for the RCA remote and under "Receiver" for the One for All remote, I'm thinking I may have to find a remote that has Bose codes under "Amplifier"? After all the Cinemate Series 2 is just an "Acoustimass module" (amp/sub), 2 array speakers and an "Interface Module" (takes the audio input and receives remote signals). So effectively an amp?

Thanks.

Well, that has to set some sort of record for impatience!  Audio 1933 will operate the Cinemate just fine.  However, you do need to set up the Volume Punch Through.

To make the volume control go to the Cinemate:
1) Press Setup until 2 blinks
2) Enter 993
3) Tap Audio.
The remote should blink twice.

This will make the volume button be routed to the Cinemate for all device modes.  If you want a different behavior, follow the 993 instructions.
