Some of you guys have really wrapped your brains around this remote thing. Can I pump you all for more details? Here are some questions:

Price is most often quoted as the factor in purchasing a remote. Let's assume price was no object. Which remote would you purchase? The Marantz, the Pronto, or the Take Control?

I've been having a tough time locating a mail order service that sells the Take Control and the Pronto. Can someone tell me where to order them?

How much can I expect to pay for each?

Well, if price was no object you'd probably be looking at Lexicon. But reasonably, for your choices I'd put them in order of Pronto, Take Control, RC2000.

This site has a list of over 25 mail-order sites that carry the Pronto, and about 8 for the Take Control. The only reason the second list is shorter is it's only been up a short time. You'll probably find a lot of the stores on the Pronto list also can get the Take Control.

You'll find other user experiences on ordering or pricing for the Pronto & Take Control in their respective forums.

Actually, if price were no object I'd go with a full-blown AMX system! The ViewPoint Xpress touch panels are very cool, albeit quite expensive.

Amazingly Smooth

Well, I thought I'd try the Take Control, but found it too sluggish. I have the Sony 50ES touch screen remote, and after all the time I've owned it I decided something very painful. I don't like touch screen remotes despite how cool they are. I went with the Marantz because I get to relabel some keys and I get real buttons. It was the most difficult choice not going for one of the cool touch screen remotes. It seems to me the remote your system uses really affects how much you enjoy using it. Hope this helps.

Price no object: Probably a Pronto. It seems to the best configurability to get your setup exactly the way you want it. I like the fact that you can share your codes and with the PC software, there is no end to the setups you can have. I'd still miss the real buttons of the Marantz though. The Take Control is too clunky for me though. From this site and many other sites, it SEEMs as though there are a larger percentage of unhappy Take Control users than others.

I'd rank them Pronto, RC2000, Take Control if price no object. Of course, there are much more expensive ones but they are not easily hand held.
