Hi

I would appreciate if anyone can help. I need very simple remote control without any specific features except one - need to be able to program in advance recording. So I can record, play etc. any of the standard features without any problems but I can not find remote that can help me to get into function of time advanced recording. Game starts at 2:30 and you have to preset VCR to start recording from 2:30 until 4:30. VCR that I have is Hitachi - do not know exact model but I can easily find out. So that is the only feature that I need and I have few remote controls at home but none of them work - they are mostly older versions of remote control ONE for ALL.

PS.
Lost original remote control and you can do advanced recording only with remote control.

Are you saying you need a remote with a key mapped that takes you to an advanced programming menu system on the screen (something like "Guide" or "Menu" button on the OEM remote), or are you saying you are looking for a remote that you program to send out record at a certain time and then stop at another time?

It would help if you posted the VCR model number and also the One for All remotes that you have. Some of the OfA remotes have advanced function where you can add new commands if you know the command number. Do you already have a device code programmed in the remote that at least some of the keys functioning, like "play" or "stop"? If so, what is it (maybe VCR/0000)? Knowing that would help a lot in finding the command codes for the other function you need.

I founds OEM remote control on the internet - see below. It is Hitachi RCU-01A and on this page below they offer replacement but it is $48 and it is US. I live in Ontario, Canada and it would be cheaper then to buy brand new VCR.

And yes I want to get into menu where I can set time in the future to record something. On the OEM remote if you press Program it will get you to the screen where you can set time in future to record something.

Funny, but I think I have a Hitachi VCR with that remote (the replacement with the jog dial).

A One For All is probably your best bet - but get a better one that can take Advanced Codes and then contact the company and have them provide you with instructions on how to enter that function.

Yesterday I bought for $9.99 Philips 4 button(TV,VCR,DVD, SAT) remote control in Canadian Tire and it does have that function so now I can program my VCR to record something in a future. Funny thing I could not find it before since this is my 8 or 9 remote and then find the almost cheapest one that exist and it works.
