I'd be surprised if there is much I can do about this, but I thought I would give it a shot.
I just purchased Sharp 37 LCD - LC37D43U. My sat dish is a Starchoice - MOTOROLA DSR 505.
Im quite dissapointed that that the sharp remote will not control the sat dish. The manual only gives 3 sat codes. I tried all those, of course, and also went through a good portion of the cable boxes just to see if those would work.
Question: Is there any hack/workaround someone knows abotu to get this to work - or am I screwed? I can buy a nice universal remote (im eyeing Logitech 880), but it would be so much easier just to use the sharp (and will keep my wife from complaining about more money spent).
Thanks!

Have you tried the General Instrument codes? Wikipedia notes that General Instrument is a division of Motorola, and somebody noted on a thread here that most Motorola cable boxes (though I dunno if it also applies to their satellite boxes) are basically rebranded GI boxes.
I'm wondering about this problem myself since I also got a 42" Aquos and Comcast digital cable. I stumbled upon the GI suggestion on here after doing some searching, so I haven't tried it yet, but it's worth a shot.

GI codes do not work. Just bought a 37" Aquos. I have Motorola 6200. I guess it's time to contact Technical Support.
