I havent had a universal remote in a while, I picked up an RCR815 model controller the other day. I remember the last time I had a universal remote there was a way to use the TV/Video function on my TV even though there is no button for the function on the remote.
My regular TV remote has a TV/Video button, but my TV does not have this button. How can I use my universal remote to activate this function? Thanks a lot

I cannot tell from your post which item does have the TV/VCR functionality and which item doesn't.

This tends to imply that your TV doesn't have TV/VCR functionality...

... but then this tends to imply that your TV does have the functionality, or at least, there is a button for it on the TV remote, so if it doesn't work the TV/VCR function, what does it do.

According to the user manual for the RCR815, this remote has a TV/VCR button and it's a learning remote, so even if the button isn't programmed automatically when you program the setup code for your TV, you can always learn the button from the TV's own remote.

sorry if I didnt explain it right
My tv does not have a tv/video button on the actual tv
Basically if I wanna watch DVDs or play video games I need a remote that has a tv/video function
I know most universal remotes have the finction without the actual button so I need to know what to press to make this function work.

OK, so we've established that there isn't a TV/VCR button on the TV itself, but according to your first post it sounds like there is one on the TV remote and it sounds like you still have the TV remote, so what's stopping you from using the TV remote to switch between TV and VCR modes.

I have absolutely no idea what you're driving at here. The TV/VCR button is pretty standard and can be found on most universal remotes. You say that you have an RCA RCR815 remote, so I looked up the user manual for it and this remote clearly has a TV/VCR button, so I'm a little lost as to what the issue is.

Are you saying that...
a) You tried the TV/VCR button and it doesn't work, or
b) You know that the TV/VCR button is there but you want to use a different button for this function, or
c) You hadn't noticed the TV/VCR button.

If the answer is (a), have you tried learning the function from the original remote?
