i have a sony RM-U306 that goes to a STR-K740P reciever. I had an old remote and i just bought a new one because i thought there was something wrong with my remote. so today when i got my new one. it didnt work either. so i downloaded the user manual to the reciever and it didnt tell me anything that could help me. the only thing that works on either of the remotes is when i push AV I/O and I/O (which turns it off). on the back of the remote it says if the buttons on the remote fail to operate check command modes of the reciever and the remote are the same (AV1 or AV2). im not sure what that means can someone help me?

I had the same problem!!! You need to press the set up button which is just to the left and above the menu wheel in the center. Press the + arrow on the menu until you get to C.MODE.AVX Mine was set on AV1. It needs to be set on AV2. Press the + button on the menu wheel to set it to AV2. It now works perfectly. I have no idea how these things work fine and then all of a sudden some little button is off.

I'm so glad I found this site. I was googling the RM U306 to buy a new remote when I found this post. If you have problems email me at dondon@midsouth.rr.com and I'll help you further.
