I just acquired a 27" Advent TV from a friend a few days ago. It came with an Advent RC-S10-0A universal remote. Unfortunately, the remote control's batteries died and of course when I had to change the batteries, the remote needed reprogramming. My friend does not seem to know where the manual to this thing may be, and I've had no luck finding one online. I went to Best Buy today and bought an RCA RCR450 universal remote. The manual for the RCA remote says that possible Advent TV codes are 1005, 1062, 1219, 1238. None of those work. I tried the manual code search, with no luck. Can anyone tell me how I can get one of these two remotes to control my new television, or a remote that I can buy that would be more easily compatible? Thanks for any help you're able to give! I'm lost and at my wit's end!

You need to be VERY careful when using universal remotes with Advent TVs as there are some standard codes that will render the TV useless. Do a search in either this forum or the One For All forum to find some threads with more info.

I have a 32 in Advent with the same remote. In the Code List for Advent they show the following:001,002,133,134,142.

In one section it states the following if the remote isn't working.
1. Press and hold the SET button, followed by the TV button at the same time until the indicator lights up.
2. Press the following numbers one by one: 1, 3, 3,. The response should be that the indicator twinkles twice, if not repeat the above two sets.

The other method discussed in my owners manual is as follows:
1. Turn Power on for the devise to be controlled.
2. Press One device key which you want to control
3. Hold SET key 3 seconds then release and the Quick Search mode is on with the red LED blinking
4.If the set turns OFF or has action press SET key immediately and release. All functions should now work.

Hope this helps, My wife washed mine in the washer and it now works after several months of drying out and reprogramming.

Ed

Have you had any luck finding codes? I have tried to program my Dish Network remote to control my 27" Advent TV. My Dish remote is ver. 5.0ir and all I can do with my Dish remote is turn my TV on and off, and that is using the blue down button on my Dish remote. The web page for Advent TV was not helpful at all.

I got the code 0638 for my 24" Advent TV, but as Robman said, a key destroyed the TV! The screen got black and no resposible for remote keys and buttons. Then I turned off and power on again, the picture got terrible. All settings were changed and rechanging doesn't resume the picture. The "destroy-key" still worked to make it die.

I will goto the service later and post some messages if available.

I learned on another thread that unplugging the television for at least 4 hours will reset all the internal programming back to what it was when the set left the factory. Then you set the remote as mentioned above with using 1 or 1,3,3

However, I'm visiting this forum because I'm still not getting MY TV or remote to work. Thanksgiving afternoon and I'm missing the football games!

The factury remote that came with my 20" Advent lost many of it's functions. I recently purchased the Phillips Remote SRU4105WM/17 and it works perfectly with the Advent as well as my other equioment. Buy has it fo $8: [Link: buy.com]

I have an Advent tv , while i was trying to use an universal remote, the tv just went black, none of the front panel keys worked. I just read that if you unplug the set for at least 4 hours it will reset itsel. My question: has anybody tried this before??? Has it worked?? thanks
