I just bought one of these remotes off eBay, it included the original packaging, cd, manual, etc.

The cable that was included has male pins on the PC end. I am not at all familiar with serial cables/ports, but all my PC's also have male pins on their serial ports.

Have I been sent the wrong cable?? Do I need a gender adapter?? Will this cable even work with the TakeControl if I get a gender adapter??

Thanks!!

You most likely have the wrong cable. The pinouts for the HK TC1000 and the IRIQ are in a file here on Remote Central.

I would definitely check that cable with an Ohmmeter before using it.

If you need a cable you can make one, or send me an email I probably have an extra.

The cable for the Home Theater Master MX850 just happens to be the same as the Take Control cable too.

I bought one off of E-Bay recently as well. Mine came with the 9 pin serial port cable with a female end. Not sure why they would have sent you one with a male connector.

My Gateway laptop did not have a 9 pin serial port so I bought a 9 pin (male) to USB adapter and it worked perfect. If you can find a 9 pin (female) to USB you should be fine.

Gerald, do you still have an extra cable for a HK TC1000?
