I have been unable to get my Take Control to work with my Sony STR-DE1015G Receiver. I am aware of the problem with the macro buttons (Video 1, Power Off, etc.). However I have been unable to get any of the functions to work even though the TC says it learns them - even simple functions like volume up/down or mute. Anyone had any luck with this receiver. I am afraid the IR codes may be at too high a frequency.

I am considering upgrading to the Yamaha DSP-A1 or RX-V2095 receivers. Has anyone been successful making them work?

Here's something you can try. Instead of learning them through the PC software, try learning them direct on the remote.

Unfortunately, you are right. You will never be able to learn any of its codes. It turns out that the 1015g is a visiontouch receiver, which uses a VERY high frequency remote:( No learning remotes currently on the market can learn those codes. I ended up buying a sony 50es -extremely great receiver - you won't believe the difference in the sound quality over the 1015g- especially if you have good speakers. I also considered the Yamaha rx-v995. This is also an excellent receiver with one advantage over the 50ES - it has 5.1 inputs, the sony doesn't, although SOny is revamping its entire receiver line this summer and will add the 5.1 inputs. I bought the SOny because a friend works there and got me an unbelievable deal.

TIA - if you have any questions about my response, e-mail me as I usually don't use this message board. (I'm a pronto user - flame away)

Have used HK Take Control with Yamaha DSP A-1 with no problems.

I have the RX-V2095. The receiver is great ! I finally got a DTS DVD disk to hear last weekend. Apollo 13. You should hear the launch scene.

I have no problems with using the IRIQ - which is the brother to the Take Control. Same exact product.

I believe the reason why Sony made their visiontouch remotes operate at such high frequencies is because of the remote's design. Since the visiontouch remotes are basically a joystick that is used with a Graphical User Interface, Sony realized that it would be harder to program a learning remote to replace a visiontouch remote when compared to a conventional remote. (people may try to teach a learning remote a visiontouch remotes' joystick as a single button, etc.)
