universal remotes? I have a Sylvania DVD player, and I could not for the life of me get it to work with my remote. I have an RCA, and I followed the instructions for finding the code. It said it was 364, but I must have entered it thirty times with no luck. It's driving me effing nuts, because I have no way of moving around the menu on DVDs. Is it the brand that's throwing it off? Should I get a different remote? If somebody could help, I would be SO appreciative.

Your mistake was buying an RCA remote (they're crap). If you were to get a "One For All" or "Radio Shack" brand remote, I show the Sylvania as using either DVD/0675 or DVD/0821.

The DVD/0675 code is in most of the current OFA/RS remotes, but the DVD/0821 code is only in a few remotes (including: 15-2133, 15-2138, URC-4041, URC-6131 and URC-9960).

The advantage of using an OFA/RS remote is that you can program any missing functions using advanced codes.
Rob.
