I am looking for a dead simple universal remote for my grandmother. I want a remote for one device - a TV with power, volume up/down, channel up/down and numbers 0-9, nothing else.

Why? She will occasionally press other buttons by mistake, i.e. SAP or hit something in the menu that screws things up. In some cases simple is better.

Try this:

Or what I have done in the past is buy the cheapest Radio Shack model and reprogram the VCR key as a TV key and then make the TV code the same for both the regular TV key and the VCR (now a TV) key. So then the older person can't switch to VCR by mistake.

But when I just looked on the Radio Shack web site I couldn't find that cheap simple remote listed. (It was about $10.)
