Besides looking for a remote that can operate a number of pieces of equipment (say 6-8), the main ingredient I'm looking for seems to be constantly overlooked by the manufacturers (at least in the price range up to $80). This feature is the ability of the remote control to know that when I want to raise or lower the volume, I want to do it on my receiver, and not force me to first hit the "receiver" button. Then when I want to change the channel, I wouldn't have to remember to hit the "cable box" button before hitting channel up or channel down. Has anyone seen this functionality in any universal remotes? Thanks

I just bought the Home Theater Master SL-9000. It has the ability to "punch through" the receiver's volume control so you can adjust volume while in the DVD mode. Same with the channel control. These can be punched through to just about any other device on the remote.

Some of the OneForAll remotes have this feature, as well. It's generally called "punch through".

Thanks. As a matter of fact I just picked up the Jensen 570 for just $20. Not only does it control 7 devices, but it also has the punch through capability. Now, if I could just get it to work properly I'd be really happy....
