I have been thinking about getting a universal remote for my A/V components. I currently have several components I'd like to consolidate. I was very interested in the RC9800i until I starting looking at this forum. I really want to be able to stream mp3's, and video, as well has show pictures on my tv. I just noticed that the Philips website is offering their SL300i wireless multimedia link with the purchase of as 9800i. Does this help resolve some of the streaming issues with the unit? I'm not too much into customization, but I'd definitely like to be able to use my remote to control the Tivo. Any suggestions? I'd really like to get a remote soon, I just want to make sure I use the money in the right place. Thanks.

If you can live with limitations of the streamium devices (see www.streamiumcafe.com , bitrate issues!!) this remote and a sl300i is the way to go. Beware that this remote is hardly configurable. For me this setup works and I'm happy with my configuration at home.

setup:
pc with media content
streamium sl400i
Harman Kardon home theater set
Harman Kardon DVD player
Samsung tv

save your money and skip this remote! It doesn't have enough customizable features to fully integrate with detailed controls for any device, especially Media Servers.

for just music. It works great with the roku soundbridge 1001. If you use the pnp software from phillips you can choose the songs directly from the remote gui interface. Sonos does the same but their GUI interface is not a remote as well. Plus sonos costs over 1k while the soundbridge plus remote is 349.00 at costco.com. you can find it at :

www.costco.com which is cheaper than the phillips site. The roku can be found as cheap as 165 online and is much more advanced than the phillips devices.
