Does anyone know if this remote can replace the Media Center Remote?
I would like to use it for my HTPC and various other theater equipment, and if can open and close media files, then I think it might be ther remote I am looking for. Thanks.

Info on MCE remote:
USB compatible Microsft remote control and receiver 1.0A for Media Center PC with Windows. Model: 1040. 2 x IR antennae for wider receiving range
I want more.

So will it "stream" the information to the remote from Windows MCE without having to load any additional software?

Thanks.

Woops, I thought you were talking about IR control of a MCE PC, replacing the MCE remote IR functions. Please ignor my other reply.

Yea it can replace the MCE remote, but it's very limited. Yes it does stream content to the remote, but access to the content is crude and basically worthless to me. It makes no sense at all considering content sounds and looks better on my system. My phone has better audio quality than this POS.

It can replace the remote. I don't know if the songs will show up in the GUI interface, but the remote menu does give a microsoft remote option as a template. Therefore, it will do everything a Microsoft MCE remote can do, but if you looking for Graphical control within the RC9800i you will have to ask someone else.
