Good morning.

I just received my RC9800i and am getting ready to set it up. I have a Mac and downloaded the software for Mac from the Philips site.

Before I install this, I was just wondering if anyone else is using the RC9800i with a Mac? Everything working OK?

Also, I have an Elgato eyehome for streaming pictures, music, etc. to my home theater. Will two types of "server software" work on one machine without conflicts?

Thanks.

Hello,

I am using this remote with a Mac Mini. I also have the Eyehome and I think it is fine ( not great ). I have downloaded the MAC software and I have not been able to get it to work.

Hey coopj...

What problems are you having with the Mac software (I assume you mean for the RC9800i). I've read about some server software called Twonyvision (www.twonkyvision.de) that is suppose to work with the RC9800i. Haven't tried it though.

How's the Eyehome work? Does that software work good?

Just a note. I haven't purchased an RC9800i -- yet. I'm waiting to see how well it works with a Mac. So, I'm very interested in the experiences of other Mac users with this new remote.

Same as jonro for me. I'm Mac based so I would like to make sure everything works OK before purchasing one. Although, I don't think they're available in the UK yet!! Any day now.....

There is quite a good forum on the MAC and also other media servers being actively discussed here:

I've tried the 9800i with a Mac power book. I discovered that the mac pmm software is not fully compatible with the 9800i yet. On the 9800i the server is not found, but you can control the media hub with the remote (infrared) and with the UpNp protocol over Wifi (once the media is running). It is not possible to stream music/photo's from the mac to the remote.

Summarizing: the remote doesn't see the server and it is therefore not possible to send files from the server to the media hub over the network.

Regards,

De Pampi

Newbie here to the site.
I'm looking for a really functional remote to use on our home theater system and interface with the Mac (G4). Several questions I'd like to ask.
1. Does the 9800i now have downloadable software from Phillips to update equipment codes and buttonology, similar to the 7000u?
2. If so, does the 9800i have similar capabilities as the 7000u now or, if not, could anyone explain the differences?
3. Any relevant info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Yes, am still following this thread. I bought one two months ago, and have left it in the box, waiting for someone to lead the way.

Have a G4 tower, G5 iMac, airport extreme and airport express.

I would love to hear from you on how to do this.

Thanks,

D Pepper
