is it possible to programm the 9800i on the same way (PC-Software.....) like RSU 950 or 980 with individual buttons, postions of the buttons .....? Or are the buttons and positions fixed, so that i am only able to use a given selection?

No PC software to be expected in the near futur from Philips. The buttons and position are fixed (but in a clever way). The gaphic layout is fixed too, which is regretable, not because it's ugly, it isn't, but because it is in grey shade and does not take advantage of the color screen. More choice (templates) should be given to the user.

As for the software, I heard that the source code was avalaible, so I guess maybe a very gifted, very charitable computer wizkid could come up with something of his own (like that Tonto project for the pronto). Someone on this forum (Magick) already tried to gather information about it (see "it runs linux" thread), but no information has appeared on his website for a long time, so I guess he left this project.

thanks for your info. It helps me very well.

But sometimes i am very surprised about the deveopers of such expensive nice RC´s. With the Pronto Software, which i have downloaded and tested, i am able to "design" the touchscreen like my original one.

Then there is a new RC and such functions suddenly disappeared. Wonder, Wonder....

It's just a different product, more consumer-oriented. They should have a prosumer model with full programmability, though, and use the current setup as a starting point.
