I have a TSU7000 but am interested in the RC9800i. The only device I need to relable is for the remote shades on the windows. Can I change a device name from say tv to shades? I have read that you cannot change button names but I need the remote to be used by others. Also is there a way to hide buttons that you don't use? I had a Sony touchscreen that had that feature.

Nope
At this point, you cannot rename anything except a very few buttons (sources or chanels, usually), and only within setup wizards.
But the Philips support team said that more customization is to be expected in the next firmware release. At the very least, I think they will allow the 8 user defined buttons to be renamed. A new "lighting" device seems to be a popular demand too.
