Hello, I run the Twonky Server on my NAS. The server seems to work, because it can be accessed thru Windows XP. Unfortunately I can't access the Server with the RC9800i, because it doesn't find any upnp Media- Adapter. The devices are attached to a Netgear 634G and the remote is connected to WiFi. Are there special settings to do?
Thanks, Sportfreund

First of all when you want to add a new UpNp device, this device and a media server must be switched on otherwise the remote will not find them. Unfortunately the remote will only find a media adapter if it answers over the network to the remote with a special UpNp command. This is not always implemented in the media adapter. For example:
The sl400i/sl300i philips streamium devices do this (they are designed to cooperate with the remote), but
the slm5500 or the sla5520 also philips streamium (but developed by different company the the above) are not doing this and they don't show up in the screen. Since the next button is then greyed out you will not be able to add such a device as UpNp media adapter.
This "bug" or whatever it is has been reported (by me and several others) a long time ago, but it is never resolved and it will never be resolved I'm afraid.
You can add the Netgear as a htpc and program every button manually so you will be able to control the basics, but you end up with an activity including a record button and a tv guide, while this is not necessary for the netgear.
Just a side note: are you able to connect with your remote to server by the 9800i activity?
Hope this clarifies things.
Regards

Hello DePampi, first of all - thanks for your response. I am still stuck with that remote. I'm not entirely sure, if I understand everthing your wrote. Maybe I explain my system plans first. I do have a Raidsonic NAS 1000, and I run the Twonkyvision MediaServer 4.01 software on the NAS. The NAS is attached with a RJ-45 to the Netgear wireless router 634G. I thought that the 9800i does connect thru the WLAN on the Router (this works - I get the connect) and finds then via upnp the Twonkyvision server that is running on the NAS. But unfortunately, when I choose "install media adapter" on the RC9800i, the device searches an upnp media adapter and finds nothing - and I'm stuck. The upnp on the WLAN is activated, but I changed nothing on the firewall on the router. Is there something special to set? Or do you think the Twonkyvision doesn't send that special Upnp command? On the other side, I don't understand your comment, how to install the Netgear router as HTPC (you mean as media center pc ?) on the RC9800i. The router does not have a remote... And how can I try to connect the remote to the server by the 9800i activity? Sorry - maybe stupid questions - but I'm new in the upnp business. And I have the feeling that the Philips documentation of the 9800i is too short! Thanks in advance, Sportfreund

Hello DePampi,
I opened all UDP and TCP ports for the RC9800i device on the Router. Now it works! Cool! The only thing: jpegs are not displayed. Any suggestions?
Thanks,Sportfreund

Good to hear that it works, sorry for the confusion about the netgear. I also have Twonky installed on a NAS. Unfortunaly the twonky upnp server does not support displaying the pictures (jpg) on the remote. This is only supported when using the Philips upnp software (Philips Media Manager) installed on windows (so no NAS support).

Dear Depampi,
final questions: do you have a stable connection between the RC9800i and the Twonky-NAS? If I stop playing mp3s the connection is lost sooner or later
Greetings,Sportfreund
