I gave my Parents my older 50" Pioneer PDP 505 Plasma Monitor, a Nakimichi Hero Sound system, a DVD Player, And a VCR, they also use a comcast HD cable box...

They definitely need a Touch Screen, Simple Remote Control to control it all.

All they need is to:

1. Turn everything on/off
2. Change inputs/sources
3. Change Channels
4. Change Volumes
and if possible, simplify recording a program...

Is the 9800i too advanced (I will either program it my self or have a professional program it... Would it be easy for them to just touch the screen and do the above?

If this isn't the right system for them are there other systems that would be better, easier... And not in the crestron category... the screen on this unit looks large enough that they could easily see it... your thoughts, opinions and suggestions are GREATLY Appreciated!!

Thank you!

It will do the trick, but I'm not sure if it is the most user friendly remote around. It sometimes has its own ways (it moves in mysterious ways), maybe you should also look to the harmony remote of logitech, it looks more "old fashion" so it might be more suitable.

The screen is large enough and the user interface is pretty straight forward. I suggest that you look in the user manual on the Philps site to see if it is suitable and please read and browse this forum, because this remote is far from ideal (but most people want advanced control, so for simple control it might be perfect)

Best regards,

De Pampi
