Hello! I bought a new battery for my Pronto Pro NG. When I plug the battery into the Pronto it beeps twice and the screen comes on like it should. But, when I put it on the charger, the LED lights on the charger start blinking instead of coming on solid like it does when it's charging. I know that when the LED lights start blinking, there is some sort of communication error. I tried unplugging the battery and plugging it back in several times and I still get the same results. I let the battery run down completely thinking maybe that would get the Pronto to recognize the new battery when it booted up again. But, the LED lights keep flashing. I left the Pronto on the charger anyway and the battery got charged a little bit and the Pronto rebooted and came on again after a couple of minutes. I decided to leave it on the charger to see if it would charge. It did charge a little bit, but after 3 hours of charging, it still didn't hold a charge for very long. Does anybody know what the problem is here? Does anyone know what the remedy for this is? It is a Fleurion 800mah battery that is compatible with this unit. It operates the unit just fine, I just cannot get it to charge. Please help me out if you can! Thank you!
Ronnie

I make up from your first sentence that you used another battery for your Pronto Pro NG before ad that the charging problem occurred right away when you charged the new battery for the first time.
If all this is right I would first try the old battery again. If the charging works well the old one, then it seems to be a problem with the new battery.
By the way I use different (especially heavier) battery's for my NG's. They work fine.
Best regards, Jürgen

Hello, thank you for your response! Yes, that is exactly the problem. As soon as I put the old battery back in the battery charges perfectly. When I put the new one back in, it will not charge and the lights are flashing. I have three of the same kind of battery and I am having the same problem with each one of them. The brand is Fluerion. Do you have a particular brand you like to use or recommend? Thank you, Ronnie

Sounds like you got a bad batch of batteries or one that does not have a charge limiting circuit.

I bought 2 of the exact same batteries that you bought. I got mine off of Ebay, neither of mine would charge. I took the shrink wrap off the new batteries and both don't have the diode on the negative wire. It has to have it. I unsoldered the wire harness off the old batteries and soldered it on the new ones and now they both work.

Graham, Many thanks for the feedback. Do you have a picture? The diode has to be resoldered in the same direction.

I also purchased a pair of these Floureon batteries off eBay and neither one will charge, just the blinking LEDs. I took the first one apart and discovered it did not have the diode. Unfortunately I no longer have the original as it was damaged by my children. I guess I will be buying a new battery again. Buyer beware of these incorrect batteries for your Pronto or Marantz RC9500.
