Got myself an SBC-RF980 (European TSU-7000) so I can start using the RF feature.
But how to start?
I've got a room lighting on/off system based on several of those remote RF operated power sockets.
It would also be nice to switch my amps, which have no remote...
Is there any way to construct a hex code to operate?

Thanks!

Had some time to search on Remotecentral, and my conclusion thus far is:
Nothing goes unless some manufacturer/modifier offers the hex codes...
I have an Interelectro (Austria/Germany) modified TSU7000 with the funny habit of wanted to operate "Rolladen" (blinds) and outside lighting on several day times.
And I don't have those appliances!
After beeping away it finally stops trying...
Removing all instances from App/Settings of the TSU works for one day, then raises this apparantly automatic add-on's nasty head again.
(You see it not only in APPS).

Also I found the 433.92 MHz operated power sockets work...sort of.
Often they don't work for no apparent reason, when I plug two in from 2 feet from each other, or....
They offered high power sockets for some time, these were not better.

The white RF remotes Conrad in Germany started to offer still are the best (they have been followed by many others in hardware shops etc., but to my knowledge none ever offered usable hex codes.

Still hope something came up?

You have timers either set in your config or on the remote. The way to see what's in your config is to make a backup copy, change the .pcf extension to .zip and then open the zip. Inside, there is a file named ConfigEdit.xml that at the bottom should have a RootConfiguration (or something like that) that lists any timers you may have. If they are in this file, then that is why they continue to show up on the remote.

On the remote, enter tools (hold the pronto icon for 2 seconds) and then goto settings to determine if any timers are configured.

With regards to learning/using RF directly without an extender, search the Classic Pronto Forum for posts by Dave Houston.

I know some folks have used Pyramid RF extender to learn RF codes to IR on the Pronto. That is one way to do it but I do recommend a search.

You also did not post exactly what lighting make/model you have. Maybe someone on here has a config file.

:-)

Thanks Lyndel,
Good idea, will try!
Please stay on this Remotecentral FOREVER to help a poor ignorant sod out!
LOL

I own some of the Philips WLAN > IR repeaters but IMO none is very sensitive and, er, they are downright ugly!
Will check out the Pyramid.
Any idea where to look for these entries?
I have been reading many threads about how to learn, there was one with an exe file that obviously went lost over the years (?).
Guess Dave Houston removed the link, maybe to prevent rights infringement?

Problem is my amps (25W each on standby and I've got five of 'em! + in summer their fans come on...) aren't remote operated, so my dwindling hope is to find a way to learn a hex code for one of these household lighting remotes from Conrad I have...they work consistently for lighting.

Tried to remove all user timers from the xml file, using an xml editor.
There were A LOT of user timers !
Rezipped the bitmaps folder and the xml & changed back to .pcf.
Now PENG says it's corrupted now...
What can I be doing wrong here?

Problem is I can disable the timers in APPs on the TSU but they keep coming back.
Dunno when this crept in...
Maybe start from scratch (how?), but I fear at some point I'll want my config back...

Provided that the file ConfigEdit is in the root of the zip and you have a Bitmaps folder in the zip, you did not add proper zip comments. Selecte View-> Comments from Winzip and you will likely see nothing.

Easy remedy. Simply copy/paste comments from another PCF-zip you have and you should be good.

You got me there Lyndel...
Using Powerzip & not understanding why there should be comments...

Here's what I did this time:

1. Renamed pronto.pcf to pronto.zip
2. Unzipped to folder
3. Folder and xml file present at root, nothing else
4. Did NOT change the xml file this time
5. Rezipped the folder and the xml to pronto.zip
6. Renamed to pronto.pcf
7. PENG says it's corrupted

IMO this is exactly the same pcf I started with, unless I am missing something...
I must be doing SOMETHING wrong, but what!

Thanks to berrick I finally solved the issue
[Link: remotecentral.com]

Took me a lot of time finding out what's going on here; this is how I removed the timers:
-Make a copy of the pcf
-Rename it to zip
-Open it in Winrar "all files"
-Click COMMENTS icon and copy the 2 lines
-Unzip to a folder
-Open configedit.xml in an xml editor (I used the free foxe xml editor
-Delete user timers
-Save xml
-Rezip xml plus the Bitmaps folder to a zip file
-Open zip in Winrar (not all zippers support "comments")
-Click COMMENTS
-Paste the 2 lones
-Save zip
-Rename to pcf
-Done

For anyone who is interested, you can see what comments should be for different remotes in the NG FAQ.

B2-08 I’ve extracted and re-compressed a PCF file. Why won’t it load?

Hi Barend,

Take a look at the klik aan klik uit site and see the Lightmanager Mini/Pro on this page

[Link: klikaanklikuit.nl]

They are controlled by your Pronto (IR) and as long as you are in line of sight of that it will then control RF actuators around the house. The pro model can also hold timers etc

See the original producers website here (JBMedia)

[Link: cms.jbmedia.de]

It has an explanation of what is possible. I use one with my Bang & Olufsen IR remote and it is excellent.

It controls a long list of RF including InterTechno series at 433.92 MHz and compatible (e.g. HomeEasy UK, Coco, Nex, Chacon, klik aan klik uit and more) & FS20 series at 868.35 MHz from Conrad Electronic

You might find that more reliable. I control RF all around the house and in my garage and in the garden from this, it is VERY reliable and I do not remember the last time I turned off or on and it did not work!

Regards

Thanks Stoobie.
Yes, if all else fails this may be a good idea!
Currently trying the RF performance of the SBC RU 990 vs. its counterpart the TSU7500.
It seems to be somewhat better...
Tomorrow I'll try further- hopefully the "to-close-for-comfort" issue won't play up as badly as it did for the Intertechno sockets...
Well, maybe the Elro's (found the conversion/DIP switch info, should anybody be interested) will do the trick!
I don't give up easily...gotta have these amps turn on and off with the rest!

I used to use my Marantz RC9500 (RU990) with HomeEasy and used HomeEasy Code Generator from here,

[Link: automatedhome.co.uk]

This may help you!

Mine worked very well using my RC9500 (RU990) and I could set timers to turn the lights on/of etc when I was away. It was a bit fiddly setting timers but otherwise very stable and would work inside up to about 15 meters, outside it was less stable when controlling my outside lights connected in my garage.

I used one of these RF signal boosters and it seemed to help.

Stoobie, no such popup in my PENG 2.1.8 - just the Windows save-as.
However, I could have saved myself a lot of thinking by visiting the files area, where I found PCF Switcher, a utility by our own mighty Daniel Tonks:
[Link: files.remotecentral.com]

These 433.92 MHz receivers can play some strange tricks- after programming my amps plus lighting into the Pronto SBC RU990 under code #1 and #2 everything stopped working by and by.
Even using the little remote that came with the Elro's for the lighting made lamps not switching ON or refusing to go OFF....
And the 3 amp sockets that I got working OK stopped doing so: one wouldn't go off and one wouldn't go on...

Really looks like these sockets are somehow self learning, although I really cannot see how.
Anyone got a clever remark on this spooky phenomenon?

I posted response in other thread. Notice the drop-down under where you type the filename that is labelled 'Save as type:'
